e3creative entered into a partnership with The Manchester Youth Zone last year and is supporting the centre in Harpurhey with ongoing contributions aiming to upkeep and innovate their programmes, involving the implementation of a Mac computer lab. The equipment in this space has been instrumental in teaching their young members essential digital skills and opening their minds to opportunities in code, animation, design, online marketing and beyond.

e3creative led a 10-week Code Club in this space at The Manchester Youth Zone teaching a group of 8 aspiring coders the foundations of computer science and how to apply it. The participants attended recurring sessions and built their own personal website using HTML, CSS and JavaScript programming languages. Each website is completely unique and varies in content, the number of pages, graphics, and social media or multimedia integration.

Our team was blown away by the young member’s drive, attention to detail, and originality. It was a rewarding experience for us to relay our skills and witness the positive impact of the sessions. And equally, the classes resonated with the youth as they excitedly returned each week fuelled with questions and ambition.

An event was held to wrap up Code Club and celebrate the accomplishments of individuals. The participants launched their websites on a projector screen in front of their families, support workers, and staff from e3creative and The Manchester Youth Zone. An award ceremony followed to acknowledge the personal growth of each member, nodding to individual’s unique ideas, achievements and strides taken throughout the programme.
